Dan was screenwriter, composer and executive producer of Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and later aired on Showtime. As composer, Dan won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics, along with lyricist Kevin Murphy. As executive producer, he took home a Golden Satellite Award for Outstanding Motion Picture Made for Television. The movie also won the Deauville Film Festival’s Première Audience Award. REEFER MADNESS began as a stage musical in L.A. and New York, and as co-bookwriter/composer/producer Dan won multiple Ovation, Garland and L.A. Drama Critics Circle awards. TV credits include Weird Science, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Sabrina: The Animated Series, Phantom Investigators, Big Brother Jake, Disney Channel original movies Genius and ‘Twas the Night, and comic books of The Simpsons. Dan currently resides in Los Angeles and works in TV and film, most recently as executive producer/composer for the short film Simple Joys and as assistant director for Players Club, which won five awards at the Elevate Film Festival, and the feature film Illusion, starring Kirk Douglas. He hails from New Jersey and is a graduate of Drew University, where he and Murphy wrote and produced their first two musicals: a rock opera version of ANTIGONE (which Dan also directed) and the “action-adventure musical” VALLEY OF KINGS.
